Day 12 - London - ๐ŸŒ MWT 2017

Friday September 8th, 2017
Hiked 5.4 miles

11:14 am

I am sitting in a restaurant in Dublin Ireland called Flennagins drinking a Tom Crean's Lager. It is very cold and very good.  I plan to drink ale until noon then I am going to order the bacon cheeseburger the waitress recommended.

London is the only place where you can get a tic tac and a
condom for a proper shag in the airport.
This morning I landed too late in London to experience Fish and Chips the english way.  I walked to a restaurant and caught the manager.  She said they were closed, but the sandwich stand across the mall should be open. She also remarked that they don't have lager.  I walked back over to the sandwich stand and got a decent warmed sandwich, some chips, and a coke.  I ate it in the company of some other weary travelers without saying a word then decided to scout out a place to sleep.  There was nothing going on in Heathrow at this hour. The train looked like it would shoot me right into town, but I was beat.  I noticed that unlike China there were many people on the floor.  One man found a perch sleeping right along the window railing. It was quite a view and I almost wanted to do the same.  I was thinking I might be too tired and miss my flight, but I have not been too tired to wake up every hour this entire trip.
You get more security coming to the US from England.

I sat by a post at first, my passport, phone, and wallet in my front pocket. I strap my backpack to my legs and lay down.  I realized my bag would make a pretty good pillow so I moved it between my head and the post.  I caught 1 hour of sleep like this.

I didn't need to be up until 4 am, and I remembered that comfy guy sleeping along the railing.  I walked over by the window and found a fairly clean and waxed section of floor behind the pillar.  I pulled my sweater out and used my backpack as a pillow.  I got about 3 hours sleep like this as so many other are doing in London at the airport.

The trip over to Dublin was short.  I could see very green farms from the air.  I watched a cruise ship moving through the crisp seas. You could see the cliffs of the mainland and the city approaching as you land.  The buildings all looked like they had been around for centuries.  Like castles from the sky.
It is raining as I leave London.

I landed and noticed some were eating a 'big irish breakfast' at the cafe on the way out of the airport.  It looked good, but I will save that for my way out.

I easily found that the 747 bus will take me to downtown Dublin, right at the doorstep of my hostel. It was $15 euros for a round trip.  My other option is walking as it is only 9.9 km away.

I was kind of thinking I should walk as i rode the bus.  It was a nice morning.  Wet, but warm.  I pushed the stop button a little late so I got a bit of a walk in backtracking.

My first stop was the hostel.  I was able to check in, but my keycard will not work until 2pm and I can not get my sheets until then.  That is when I looked at Google maps and found Flennagins. So now I am enjoying my second beer and getting ready to enjoy a very delicious looking burger.  Then I am going to go check into my hostel and rest until I am rested. I feel like I might be getting a cold so I will drink some plant juice to alkalai my system.
Lush, green farms of Ireland.
The sea is a deeper blue up north.

Very interesting modernistic bridge.

A very old deer head over the bathrooms.

A bird that seemed interested in tourist.
